A conceptual apparel project by FFF and ARTY:ACTIVE made its debut at the Shenzhen stop of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area Tour. Centred around Xiangyunsha, a traditional silk fabric recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage, the collaboration reinterpreted centuries-old craftsmanship through the lens of contemporary sportswear technology and functional aesthetics.

The project featured Macao-based emerging designer Simon, who brought a generational perspective to the reinvention of heritage craft. Known as “soft gold”, Xiangyunsha is produced through a time-honoured process involving dyeing with Dioscorea cirrhosa root extract and riverbed mud coating. ARTY:ACTIVE integrated its signature quick-dry, breathable and lightweight textile engineering into Xiangyunsha finishing techniques, transcending the fabric’s traditional limitations in tailoring and wearability. The result was a conceptual collection that bridged cultural legacy with athletic functionality.

Beyond a fusion of fashion and heritage, the initiative represented a convergence of creative forces across the Greater Bay Area. With Shenzhen as the inaugural venue, the project marked a new chapter in the revitalisation of traditional craftsmanship within contemporary design. For FFF and ARTY:ACTIVE, this collaboration underscored a shared commitment to cultural preservation and sustainable innovation.
